Sharkoon has introduced the Skiller SGH40W, a new wireless gaming headset priced at €70. Available exclusively in the EU market, the product aims to provide a compelling wireless experience in a budget category typically dominated by wired alternatives.
The headset connects via a 2.4 GHz wireless frequency using an included USB Type-A dongle. It purposefully omits Bluetooth connectivity, locking the device exclusively to its 2.4 GHz band for untethered operation.
In addition to wireless use, the headset offers versatile wired connectivity options. The package includes a proprietary USB-C-to-TRRS analog cable for wired mode, allowing compatibility with virtually any device. A USB-C to USB Type-A charging cable and a Y-adapter for systems with separate headphone and microphone jacks are also provided in the box.
Audio delivery relies on custom 53 mm dynamic drivers housed in a circumaural, closed-back design. The entire headset weighs 319 grams. The sound tuning is specifically designed with a bass-forward presentation, catering to action games and energetic, bass-heavy music genres.
Due to this specific sound profile, the headset exhibits a recessed lower midrange. This characteristic makes it less optimal for critical listening or vocal-heavy content, relying instead on its excitement-oriented, factory-tuned sound signature.
Sharkoon has opted not to include companion software for the Skiller SGH40W. Consequently, users cannot adjust the equalization or customize the audio profile unless they utilize separate, third-party software tools.
The headset also omits RGB lighting, allocating the €70 budget toward foundational build quality and comfort. The physical construction features metal-reinforced adjustment rails and hybrid ear pads designed to maintain comfort during prolonged use.
For voice communication, the SGH40W includes a detachable omnidirectional microphone. This microphone is equipped with environmental noise cancellation (ENC) to assist with vocal clarity by minimizing background sounds during gaming sessions.
The device offers good battery life and a reliable wireless connection within modest distances. By eschewing complex software configurations and secondary wireless options, the Sharkoon Skiller SGH40W focuses on foundational audio, connectivity, and comfort features for its target audience in the European market.
