US Launches Retaliatory Strikes Following Iranian Cargo Ship Attack in Strait of Hormuz

The United States has launched a “powerful response” against Iran following an attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

The US military reports that it struck Iranian missile and drone storage sites, as well as coastal radar locations.

A Singapore-flagged cargo ship, the Ever Lovely, was attacked by Iran on Thursday, local time, while exiting the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast. CENTCOM stated this attack violated a ceasefire.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) described the attacks as “a powerful response to yesterday’s attack on a commercial ship that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz”.

The Ever Lovely sustained damage to its starboard side and its bridge, but there were no reported casualties. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO) released this information.

Shortly before news of the attacks, Donald Trump indicated that there would be consequences for Iran following the cargo ship strike. He stated, “You’ll find out”.

Trump posted a 400-word missive claiming America faces its “greatest threat since its founding 250 years ago!” and asserted that “hard core, godless communists” were taking over the Democratic Party.

He further claimed they would “close your churches (and) they will kill your people”.
