The GEEKOM IT13 Max is profiled as a compact desktop suitable for office work, web publishing, development, media conversion, and multi-monitor setups. It utilizes a Core Ultra 9 185H processor, offering strong multicore performance.
The system’s extensive connectivity is a key feature. It boasts six front USB-A ports, two high-speed USB4 connections for storage and display output, and two HDMI ports to support up to four monitors. Additional features include dual 2.5 GbE ports, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and an SD 4.0 reader.
This array of ports gives the IT13 Max a practical advantage over some faster Mini-PCs that require external docking stations for comparable functionality. The inclusion of two dual Ethernet connections can further enhance flexibility, allowing separation of main network traffic from storage or homelab use.
For general office tasks and daily use, the system performs well. However, its single-core performance and application tests showed limitations; Photoshop changes little compared to older models, Speedometer lags behind current Mini-PCs, and SPECviewperf indicates that Arc integrated graphics are not a substitute for discrete workstation GPUs in complex professional viewsets.
The IT13 Max is better suited for broad daily use rather than applications demanding the quickest possible exports or continuous CPU rendering power. The system is described as more fit for general day-to-day tasks than for professionals whose income depends on high-speed graphic work.
For gaming, esports proves to be the best use case for the Arc iGPU. Dota 2 averaged 74.1 FPS at 1080p High, sufficient for enjoyment on a standard 60 Hz display. Counter-Strike 2 also functions well at 1080p, though medium settings or lower resolutions may be necessary for higher frame rates.
Modern AAA gaming presents significant challenges. Cyberpunk 2077 requires playing at 720p Medium with upscaling, and Baldur’s Gate 3 drops below a smooth frame rate when quality or resolution increases. While usable occasionally, the unit should not be purchased primarily as a dedicated gaming PC.
The system’s thermal management is noted to keep noise low during idle and light work, rising only to an audible but acceptable level under sustained load. Its power consumption was economical, averaging 10.3 W during a 24-hour idle test, even with multiple advanced networking controllers included.
Regarding maintenance and design, the chassis is praised for improved service access compared to earlier GEEKOM designs. Both the Kingston SSD and Intel BE200 wireless card are replaceable components. The metal construction, VESA plate, and three-year warranty contribute positively to the ownership experience.
From a financial perspective, the $799 price point covers the Core Ultra 9 processor, extensive I/O, 24 GB of fast onboard memory, Windows 11, and the three-year warranty. The analysis suggests that the small 500 GB SSD capacity weakens the offer at this cost, especially since the RAM is soldered, removing future expansion options for capacity.
The review concludes that while the tested 24 GB/500 GB configuration faces challenges due to its limitations, buyers should consider the 16 GB/1 TB SO-DIMM model if comparable pricing exists. Ultimately, the IT13 Max provides extensive connectivity and generally good all-around speed for a primary work PC.
