Google Boosts AI Pro Plan with 5TB Storage and Premium Features

Google is enhancing its mid-tier AI Pro plan, aiming to attract users looking for more AI features. The plan, priced at $20 a month, now significantly expands its cloud storage offerings and bundles additional services.

A key update to the AI Pro plan is the inclusion of 5TB of cloud storage. This substantial storage capacity can be utilized across various Google services, including Gmail, Google Photos, and Google Drive, providing ample space for user data.

Beyond increased storage, the AI Pro plan now integrates Google Home Premium Standard. This service, which typically costs $10 on its own, adds expanded capabilities for Google Home devices, such as a 30-day event history, enriching the smart home experience for subscribers.

Subscribers to the AI Pro plan, along with the higher-tier AI Ultra plan ($250 per month), will also gain access to new features. These include Chrome auto browse, designed to automate online tasks, further extending the utility of their AI subscriptions.

For those exploring Google’s AI offerings, a one-month free trial is available for the AI Plus plan. This plan, positioned as the lowest paid tier at $8 a month, provides 200GB of cloud storage and access to a limited selection of AI features.

Google offers three dedicated AI-focused plans: AI Pro, AI Ultra, and AI Plus. The company’s strategy also includes broader access to AI tools; most of Google’s cloud storage plans already incorporate extra access to AI functionalities like video generation.

Plans priced at $20 and above, encompassing AI Pro and AI Ultra, come with 1,000 monthly AI credits. These credits can be used with Google tools such as Whisk and Flow to generate videos. The cost to produce a single video can vary from 10 to 100 AI credits, depending on the tool and the video type.

The recent decision by OpenAI to discontinue its Sora video generation service may direct more interest towards Google’s own image and video generation tools, highlighting the value of the included AI credits and capabilities.

Google’s extensive range of offerings extends beyond its AI-specific plans. Free Google plans provide 15GB of storage. The company also maintains nine paid plans in total, separate from the AI-focused tiers, with options for monthly or annual billing. These general plans start with a $2-per-month Basic plan and go up to the $250-per-month Ultra plan, which offers 30TB of storage.

One of Google’s closest non-AI plans, the $10-per-month Premium tier, includes 2TB of cloud storage and some access to the Veo 3.1 video generation model. This illustrates Google’s blended approach, incorporating AI features into various tiers of its cloud storage ecosystem.
