Generative Engine Optimization Startup Peec AI Raises $21M Series A Amid Shift from Google to ChatGPT

Peec AI, a rapidly emerging Berlin-based startup, has successfully closed a $21 million Series A funding round, just four months after its Seed round. This significant capital infusion, led by European VC firm Singular, underscores the market’s urgency to address the changing landscape of product discovery as consumers increasingly rely on conversational AI platforms like ChatGPT instead of traditional search engines.

CEO Marius Meiners confirmed the funding, noting that the company’s valuation has tripled to above $100 million. This rapid growth is supported by a strong business performance, having achieved an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of over $4 million within just ten months of launch, attracting more than 1,300 companies and agencies to its proprietary platform.

The core service offered by Peec AI is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). This functionality provides marketing teams with the tools necessary to monitor and optimize how their brands appear in AI-powered search results, drawing a clear parallel to how SEO manages visibility on traditional search platforms. The startup claims to be adding approximately 300 new customers per month based on this compelling promise.

Beyond basic visibility and ranking analytics, Peec AI’s dashboard offers deep insights by tracking the sentiment surrounding a brand and identifying the specific online sources that are shaping the AI’s answers. This detailed analytics enables customers to understand which publications or online discussions are driving the narrative about their products and services.

The platform is designed around prompts rather than traditional keywords, allowing customers to track up to 25 queries for $87 per month, or up to 100 queries for $196 per month, with enterprise offerings also available. The dashboard goes further by suggesting actionable steps to improve visibility and positive sentiment, such as recommending a company “join r/CRM subreddit discussions” to better position itself as the answer to specific queries.

Crucially, Peec AI’s research into source insights has revealed that the proximity of an article’s headline to the original user question can be more influential in an AI search answer than the tier-one status of the media outlet, a finding that will significantly guide content strategies for its users, which already include Axel Springer, Chanel, TUI, and ElevenLabs.

To sustain its rapid expansion in this emerging category, Peec AI plans to hire about 40 new employees within the next six months, primarily based in Berlin. The company, which was founded by Meiners, Tobias Siwonia (CTO), and Daniel Drabo (CRO) in the Antler Winter 2024 cohort, is also looking to open a sales-focused office in New York City in the second quarter of next year.

To maintain its competitive edge against rivals like Profound and OtterlyAI, Peec AI is banking on the simplicity of its comprehensive dashboard. Furthermore, the startup’s competitive advantage is strongly tied to its proprietary data pipeline, which filters raw AI request datasets to isolate genuine questions about brands, purchases, and services, underscoring the critical role of the application layer and underlying data in the modern AI value chain.
