FSP has expanded its SFX power supply lineup with the introduction of the new DAGGER PM Series. This series offers multiple capacities, including 850W, 1000W, and 1200W, all featuring 80 PLUS Platinum efficiency ratings.
The newly released DAGGER PM 1200W model is notable for its impressive compactness despite its high output. It boasts a power density of 1,219 Watt per litre (W/L).
The unit maintains certifications from both the 80 PLUS Platinum and Cybenetics Platinum standards. Key components include high-quality Japanese capacitors and a 120mm fluid dynamic bearing fan.
A major safety feature is its Dual Gas Tube surge protection, which mounts two high-grade gas discharge tubes on the rear of the PCB. This design provides an additional layer of defense against high-voltage surges, including those caused by lightning strikes.
The DAGGER PM Series supports modern computing standards, being fully compliant with the latest ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 specifications, ensuring readiness for next-generation graphics cards and demanding systems.
In terms of operation, the PSU is equipped with a 120mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing fan that features semi-fanless capability. FSP stated noise levels are below 30 dB(A) under typical operation, aligning with a Cybenetics Lambda A- rating.
The overall SFX PSU lineup from FSP includes the Gold-rated DAGGER PRO Series and the new Platinum-rated DAGGER PM Series, both adhering to ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards.
The Dagger PM 1200W is highlighted as one of the few Platinum-rated 1200W SFX-L power supplies available. It provides sufficient capacity for high-end graphics cards like the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 while fitting into a compact SFF chassis.
The unit’s design is described as simple and functional, featuring no RGB lighting or displays. It utilizes fully modular SFX-L architecture paired with premium embossed flat black cables. A subtle aesthetic detail is the omission of the “600W” marking from the 12V-2×6 connector.
In testing, the DAGGER PM 1200W delivered excellent performance. Notably, it demonstrated remarkably stable and tight voltage regulation on the +12V outputs powering the CPU and GPUs. The temperature-based semi-passive cooling was also highly effective, allowing operation at high loads while remaining quiet when the fan was inactive.
Regarding value, the unit carries an MSRP of US$259. While this represents a premium for its compact SFX-L form factor, it is noted as being competitively priced compared to other rare 1200W SFX-L alternatives, such as the ROG LOKI 1200W SFX-L which was priced around US$322.99.
For high-end builders requiring 1200W in a compact SFF chassis, the DAGGER PM 1200W is recommended for its combination of excellent voltage regulation, powerful delivery, and quiet semi-passive cooling.
