The CPS/PCCooler YS1200 ATX 3.1 power supply was recently evaluated by TweakTown, where it received a 90% overall rating.
The review positions the 1200W unit as a strong contender within the high-wattage PSU market. It notes that the unit has an MSRP of $199.99 and is recognized for its Seasonic-based platform, high efficiency, and individually sleeved cables.
A key technical feature is its certification, holding both 80 PLUS Gold and Cybenetics Gold ratings. The power supply complies with the ATX12V V3.1 specification and has dimensions of 150 x 150 x 86mm.
The YS1200 utilizes a 120mm-class FDB cooling fan, incorporates multiple electrical protections, and is backed by a 12-year warranty.
Technically, the PSU’s architecture is based on Seasonic’s Vertex GX-1200 platform. TweakTown confirmed that CPS leveraged this established Seasonic foundation rather than designing the platform from scratch.
The unit features Nippon Chemi-Con Japanese capacitors, specifically rated at 680µF and 470µF, providing a combined capacitance of 1,150µF. These capacitors are noted for their ability to operate at temperatures up to 105°C and for being rated for 420V.
The YS1200 is fully modular and features individually braided black cables. These included cables consist of a 24-pin motherboard cable, two CPU cables, three PCIe cables, four SATA cables, one peripheral cable, and a 12V-2×6 cable.
In terms of design detail, the 12V-2×6 connector is equipped with a bright orange housing to visually indicate correct seating; remaining visible after connection signals incomplete insertion.
Cooling is managed by a seven-blade, 135mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing fan supplied by Ong Hua. This fan operates at speeds up to 2,300 RPM. Furthermore, the PSU includes a physical Hybrid Fan Control button located on the rear, allowing users to engage a zero-RPM fan mode during low electrical loads.
The packaging for the unit is comprehensive, including a PSU tester, mounting screws, zip ties, cable combs, and a user manual. Notably, both the power supply and cable set are packaged in separate fabric drawstring bags.
TweakTown conducted testing using a specific system setup: an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, GIGABYTE X870E AORUS Pro motherboard, 32GB of Corsair DDR5-7200 memory, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition. The system load was adjusted to approximately 600W.
During testing at an average wall draw of 601W, the internal draw was measured at 548W, yielding a calculated efficiency of 91.2% near half load. This testing occurred during a continuous 13-hour burn-in session in a temperature-controlled environment set at 17°C.
At a lighter load of approximately 424W, the YS1200 achieved an efficiency rating of 94.3%. TweakTown stated this result surpassed the expected baseline from its 80 PLUS Gold certification.
The review concluded that the combination of factors—the Seasonic Vertex GX-1200 platform, high efficiency, braided cables, and $199.99 price point—makes the YS1200 a compelling option for high-end gaming and workstation systems.
However, TweakTown identified one regional packaging consideration: North American buyers may receive a European-style power cable instead of a standard 120V C13 cable, requiring them to source an appropriate 14AWG or 16AWG C13 cable.
