be quiet! Light Loop IO LCD 240mm Review: Specs, Screen, and Performance

The be quiet! Light Loop IO LCD 240mm White combines liquid cooling power with a customizable 2.1-inch LCD screen. Rated 7.8/10, the unit features single-cable design and class-leading quiet operation. Though premium priced, its performance and aesthetic depth justify the cost.

be quiet! released the Light Loop IO LCD 240mm White, an all-in-one liquid cooler that combines high performance with aesthetic customization. The company awarded the unit a final numeric rating of 7.8/10, noting that it offers a blend of bells and whistles alongside quiet functionality.

Priced between $220 and $225, the unit occupies the higher end of the 240mm AIO market. However, the review panel suggests that the feature set and performance largely justify the cost.

Visually, the cooler is defined by its monochrome white finish. Everything—the radiator, tubing, fans, and pump block—is painted white. Translucent fins frame the combination block, diffusing the visible addressable RGB lighting. Branding remains minimal, placed only on the fan hub center to maintain a clean look.

The most unique feature is the 2.1-inch IPS LCD screen mounted atop the pump block. This display has a brightness rating of 500 nits and can show custom images, GIFs, videos, or system information sourced from the be quiet!’s IO Center software.

The core components include a nickel-plated copper block and a pump that operates up to 2900 RPM. The pump connects to the radiator via 400mm braided rubber tubes that pivot at the block, simplifying routing. The radiator itself measures 277mm x 120mm x 27mm, maintaining a standard 240mm form factor.

Supporting the system are two Light Wings LX 120mm PWM high-speed fans. Each fan operates at a maximum 2100 RPM. These fans deliver 61.8 CFM of airflow and 2.51 mmH₂O of static pressure, maintaining a rated noise level of 30.9 dBA.

Installation is supported for Intel and AMD platforms, accommodating LGA 1851/1700/1200/115X and AM5/AM4 sockets. Users are provided with mounting arms or can reuse the existing motherboard backplate. The unit connects via a single USB Type-C cable to an included IO Controller, which sits magnetically behind the motherboard tray. This arrangement eliminates the messy appearance of multiple wires emerging from the block.

Performance testing revealed strong thermal capabilities. Under a Ryzen 7 9700X at 23°C ambient, the cooler idled at 44.9°C, the highest idle reading among the comparison group. During a Prime95 Small FFT load, the system stabilized at 73.9°C, ranking second overall and 2.6°C cooler than the tested Fractal Design Radius 240 RGB.

Noise remains the cooler’s standout feature. At a distance of 50cm, it recorded a maximum noise output of 41.9 dBA, marking it as the quietest of the comparison coolers tested. Subjectively, the reviewer rates the overall sound signature at 3.5/10 on a loudness scale, noting that the pump noise does not produce a high-frequency tone.

Managing the unit’s functionality is the IO Center software. This configuration tool operates via a Chromium-based browser or a standalone 175MB application. The software provides four primary menus: Illumination, Screen Setup, Cooling Setup, and Product Settings. The Screen Setup menu, for instance, allows users to cycle up to five different displays, including time, sensor data, and media art.

Despite the premium nature, the review points out several minor drawbacks. These include the lack of protection for the radiator fins under mounting holes, and the fan’s lifespan (60,000 hours) was deemed short for a premium product. Furthermore, the IO Center application occasionally crashed upon launch from the system tray.

Other appreciated features include the accessible fill port and the inclusion of a 100ml bottle of coolant for necessary top-ups. Overall, APH Networks concluded that the Light Loop IO LCD 240mm White delivers on performance and features, establishing it as a top-tier option.
