Arctic Launches Freezer 36-S: Thin Cooling Value Meets Modern Demands

Arctic has released the Freezer 36-S, an air cooling solution focused on the value end of the CPU cooling market. Priced at $28.50, this model is designed to offer high performance in a thin profile.

The Freezer 36-S features a quad 6mm heat-pipe direct touch cooling solution, a powerful Arctic P12 Pro fan, and an advanced fin array design combining elements from three previous generations of Arctic Freezer air coolers. It also includes a custom Intel ILM/Intel “contact frame” replacement and comes with a 6-year warranty.

Its ‘thin’ design makes it compatible with overhanging RAM and crowded CPU sockets. However, the model is single-fan only, limiting its cooling potential compared to the standard Freezer 36 lineup.

The device is designed to compete specifically with other thin-class coolers, rather than serving as a direct replacement for the standard Freezer 36 or for dual-fan units like the Freezer 34 eSports Duo.

While the 36-S cannot match the standard Freezer 36’s performance, the manufacturer positioned it as a value-oriented alternative. It is intended for budgets that require a CPU cooler but are not ready for the cost or cooling potential of premium units.

The model offers a unique combination of performance and low price, setting a new standard for thin 120mm air-based cooling solutions. For builds that are not high-end, the 36-S performance is noted to easily exceed the needs of 3, 5, and some 7-class CPU builds, making it a budget-friendly option.
