The Seasonic Prime TX-1600 has historically served as Seasonic’s flagship model within its top-tier PSU series. The original Prime TX-1600 was recognized for offering premium specifications, including a 133 A capable 12 V rail, Titanium efficiency levels, and fully modular design.
For an updated acoustic performance and modern compliance update, Seasonic partnered with cooling experts Noctua to release the Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition. Although the internal circuitry is largely identical to the standard TX-1600 model, several notable changes were implemented.
The original version targeted ATX 3.0 compliance and could only manage up to a 2000 W transient spike. The Noctua edition fully complies with the latest ATX 3.1 standard. This update means it ships with the newer 12V-2×6 connector, replacing the 12VHPWR, and is able to absorb a full 3200 W spike without voltage drop or activating protection circuits.
Regarding cooling improvements, the standard 135 mm fan was replaced by Noctua’s NF-A12x25 120 mm fan. This new setup includes a custom-designed and optimized fan grille intended to minimize turbulence. These modifications reportedly reduce the unit’s noise output by an estimated 8–10 dB, elevating its Cybenetics acoustic certification from LAMBDA A to the LAMBDA A++ rating.
The Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is positioned as a benchmark in power supply engineering for enthusiasts who require high power delivery combined with minimal noise. Key features include exceptional build quality and tight voltage regulation, even when stressed at 110% load.
Technically, the unit maintains its high efficiency rating of 80 Plus Titanium. It boasts ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 compliance through dual 12V-2×6 connectors, ensuring readiness for next-generation GPUs. The build quality is highlighted by individually sleeved cables using heavy-duty 16 AWG wiring, which helps minimize voltage drop.
In addition to these high-performance features, the PSU includes a long 12-year warranty and various components such as an 90-degree 24-pin adapter/tester and a SATA 3.3 V cable. The product is also noted for offering a true zero-RPM fan mode up to approximately 640 W (40% load).
While the Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition is deemed nearly flawless in performance, prospective buyers should consider that it is a highly premium option. Furthermore, its 210 mm length requires careful consideration of chassis compatibility, and its signature brown aesthetic may not complement every system build.
