Motorola has unveiled the Moto Razr Fold, its first book-style folding phone, priced at $1,899. This device is positioned to challenge established flagships, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 ($1,999), Oppo Find N6, and Honor Magic V6.
Despite featuring a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5—a step down from the Snapdragon 8 Elite found in last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7 and the latest competition—the Razr Fold boasts several premium features. These include a flagship-grade triple 50MP camera system, a substantial 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, 80W wired and 50W wireless charging, and active stylus support on both displays.
Regarding design, the Razr Fold adopts a soft, rounded corner aesthetic similar to the Oppo Find N6 and Honor Magic V6, departing from the sharp edges of the Galaxy Z Fold7. While slightly thicker (4.5mm open vs 4.2mm open for competitors) and heavier (243g vs 215-225g), the differences are reportedly hard to notice side-by-side. Motorola utilizes 2.5D edges for the outer screen and rear panel, and has canted the frame slightly towards the inner display to aid in opening the handset.
The phone features two state-of-the-art displays. The inner screen is an 8.1-inch 2k (2484 x 2232 pixels, ~410ppi, 10-bit, HDR10+) folding Extreme AMOLED LTPO panel with an 8:7.2 aspect ratio, offering a 1-120Hz dynamic refresh rate and Dolby Vision support. The Razr Fold is equipped with a triple camera system: a 50MP main camera (Sony LYT-828) with 3.5-degree OIS, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens (Sony LYT-600) with OIS.
Video recording can reach 8k 30fps, with 4k 60fps available on the ultrawide and inner cameras. The device supports various video modes, including slow motion (4k 120fps) and dual capture. Furthermore, the phone runs Hello UI on Android 16, maintaining a responsive experience close to stock Android, and includes Moto AI support.
Motorola’s Razr Fold is presented as a significant upgrade, overcoming previous struggles against major competitors. The company asserts that with its superb cameras, battery, and fast charging, the Razr Fold not only matches but outshines the Galaxy Z Fold7 in its key market. The device is available for pre-order from Motorola.com and Best Buy, with general sales beginning May 21. The accompanying Moto Pen Ultra is also available for pre-order, and an exclusive bundle is offered at no extra cost starting today.
