Apple has released iOS 26.2, bringing a host of quality-of-life improvements and critical security patches to iPhones and iPads, alongside complementary updates for its entire ecosystem. While not a sweeping feature overhaul, the update focuses on convenience, user control, and enhanced security across several core applications.
One of the most notable aesthetic changes is a new control for the Liquid Glass Lock Screen feature, allowing users to fine-tune its appearance. The update introduces a slider that enables precise adjustment of the transparency level for the Lock Screen’s Liquid Glass effect.
The Podcasts app receives a significant functional upgrade with the addition of auto-generated chapters for episodes. Furthermore, the app will now display links to any other podcasts mentioned within the episode a user is currently listening to, making discovery smoother.
Security is a major focus in iOS 26.2. The update addresses several potential security vulnerabilities, including critical WebKit flaws that Apple notes “may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals.” Users are strongly encouraged to update their iPhones and iPads immediately to mitigate these threats.
Beyond bug fixes, the update introduces a more secure method for AirDrop, which now offers the option to utilize verification codes, adding a layer of protection against unwanted file sharing.
Other quality-of-life enhancements span several apps: Apple Music now displays the Favorite Songs playlist in the Top Picks section and supports offline lyrics for downloaded songs. The Games app gains in-game score banners and library filters for easier navigation, alongside improved support for popular third-party controllers like Backbone and Razer.
For iPad users, the update enhances multitasking with new drag-and-drop gestures integrated into the new windowing system. Additionally, Safety Alerts for natural disasters have been improved with more detail, including maps of affected areas.
The rest of the Apple device family also received updates. macOS Tahoe 26.2 introduces Edge Light for Mac, which turns the display into a ring light for video calls. watchOS 26.2 fixes an issue with stuck songs in the Music app, and visionOS 26.2 expands Travel Mode to include settings for cars and buses, while adding support for spatial accessories like the Logitech Muse in various creation apps.
