Gigabyte has unveiled the X870E Aero X3D Dark Wood, a premium ATX motherboard designed for AMD’s AM5 platform. The board emphasizes a blend of high performance and striking aesthetics, featuring a visually moody dark color scheme that incorporates wood and leather accents.
Built around AMD’s flagship X870E chipset, the X870E Aero X3D Dark Wood supports the full range of Ryzen processors, including the 7000, 8000, and 9000 series. A core focus is dedicated to the X3D lineup, specifically through the inclusion of X3D Turbo Mode 2.0. This intelligent optimization feature aims to boost gaming performance without extensive BIOS tweaking. Pairing the board with a Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU could deliver an average 10% performance uplift in applications and a 10–20% improvement in gaming.
Power delivery remains a primary feature. The board incorporates a 16+2+2 phase Twin Digital VRM configuration, utilizing 60A power stages. These components are paired with premium capacitors and chokes and mounted on an 8-layer 2oz copper PCB, providing significant headroom for overclocking and handling high-end processors.
Enthusiasts seeking high-speed memory will find support for up to 256GB of DDR5, supporting overclocking speeds exceeding 9000 MT/s.
Storage connectivity is thorough. The motherboard offers four M.2 slots, two of which support PCIe 5.0. Gigabyte included EZ-Latch and M.2 EZ-Flex cooling solutions to simplify the installation of storage drives.
Expansion options are robust, including two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot. Networking capabilities are dual 5GbE LAN ports and support for Wi-Fi 7 alongside Bluetooth 5.4.
The rear I/O panel is feature-rich, boasting dual USB4 40Gbps Type-C ports and a separate USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 20Gbps Type-C port. The board also includes numerous standard USB 3.2 and USB 3.0 Type-A ports.
Thermal design received considerable attention. The X870E Aero X3D Dark Wood features a
