The Alienware AW3226Q is positioned as an affordable 32-inch 4K gaming monitor, priced at $699.99. Its appeal centers on its ability to deliver a large 4K OLED display utilizing the latest panel technology.

The monitor incorporates LG Display’s Tandem W-OLED panel. This setup features an RGB-stripe subpixel layout and a 165Hz refresh rate, while also offering Dolby Vision HDR support.

Image quality stands out as the AW3226Q’s strongest attribute. The tandem OLED panel stacks layers to boost brightness, and the RGB-stripe arrangement improves text clarity and eliminates color fringing. With a 140ppi pixel density, it maintains solid capabilities for productivity.

Color accuracy measurements show exceptional performance: 100% sRGB, 99% DCI-P3, and 89% Adobe RGB coverage. Contrast is deep, featuring a 0.01 black level and a 9050:1 contrast ratio. The peak SDR brightness is 249.8 nits, and HDR reaches upwards of 1000 nits within a 3% window.

For gaming, the display supports both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility. HDR standards covered include Dolby Vision and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400. The 4K resolution is noted as being suitable for cinematic titles like Cyberpunk 2077.

Connectivity options include a single DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 ports (one with eARC), a USB-B port, and ports on the underside. These include USB-A and USB-C, with the latter providing 15W of power delivery. The monitor does not include a KVM switch or a higher-wattage USB-C port.

The design is described as minimalistic, with rounded corners and a flat base. A wide cable management cubby is located at the rear. Assembly is straightforward, though stand adjustments are limited to tilt, swivel, and height; portrait rotation is not supported.

The user interface is managed by a joystick and is highly feature-rich. The OSD contains a dedicated eSports mode, various game modes, multiple HDR standards, and HDMI CEC, which manages mirrored power states with consoles or Steam Machines.

While the monitor lacks built-in speakers, the eARC-equipped HDMI port facilitates connecting an external soundbar, functioning like a television.

The device holds certain limitations, including a 165Hz refresh rate that trails pricier rivals offering 240Hz or more, and a modest port selection. However, the overall value proposition remains high, making it a strong choice for achieving excellent image quality and superb contrast at an accessible price point.
