The Acer Predator Nitro 16S AI is positioned as a mid-range gaming laptop, scoring 86% in TweakTown’s assessment. It is presented as an affordable way to achieve a premium feel suitable for both mainstream gaming and general productivity work.

The reviewed machine configuration includes an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 processor, paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. The graphics card supports 8GB of GDDR7 memory, and the system features 32GB of DDR5-5600 memory and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD.

At the time of the review, the laptop was listed on Newegg for $1,673.99.

Performance-wise, the Ryzen AI 7 350 is an eight-core, sixteen-thread chip built with Zen 5 and Zen 5c cores. It boasts 16MB of L3 cache and integrated Radeon 860M graphics. In tests like Cinebench 2026 and Geekbench 6, the CPU performs comparably to Intel’s Core Ultra X7 358H, matching it on single-core performance while slightly trailing on multi-core tasks. TweakTown characterized this as a modern eight-core chip adequate for day-to-day tasks and intensive rendering within limits. The discrete GPU provides added capability for video editing and 3D work that the integrated Radeon 860M cannot match.

Gaming performance is centered on the RTX 5060. When DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation are activated, the laptop can achieve 180 frames per second in demanding titles like Gears of War: E-Day, Cyberpunk 2077, and Forza Horizon 6, even with ray tracing enabled. However, TweakTown explicitly noted that the RTX 5060 is not powerful enough to drive the 2560 x 1600 display natively in challenging games, making DLSS vital for performance.

The 16-inch IPS panel runs at a 180Hz refresh rate and supports G-Sync. TweakTown described the display as vibrant and high-refresh, featuring 400 nits of brightness and full sRGB coverage. Other reviewers pointed out that while it supports 99% sRGB, its coverage of DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB is lower, meaning it is suitable for gaming and general use but lacks the full color gamut required for color-critical creative work.

Build quality received commendation. TweakTown called the design impressive and lightweight for a gaming machine, weighing 2.18kg and under 20mm thick. The chassis mix of plastic and aluminum, according to Trusted Reviews, adds premium elements, though this area is prone to fingerprints.

The laptop includes a low-profile RGB backlighting keyboard, which TweakTown found responsive for gaming, differentiating it from standard productivity key experiences. Trusted Reviews noted the inclusion of a full-size layout and a number pad.

Cooling appears to be a major strength. The unit employs a custom dual-fan system utilizing a quad intake-and-exhaust setup, complemented by thermal pads and liquid metal thermal grease covering the CPU, GPU, and memory. Independent testing found no signs of thermal throttling or overheating during Cinebench 2026 runs.

Connectivity is plentiful. The rear panel features a DC power input, HDMI 2.1, and two USB-C ports, one supporting USB4. The left side adds Ethernet, a microSD card reader, a USB-A port, and a headphone jack. A second USB-A port is located on the right. Notebookcheck highlighted this extensive connectivity, noting that the RAM and SSD are upgradeable.

Battery life proved to be a surprise. Trusted Reviews reported the inclusion of a larger 90Whr cell, offering unexpectedly strong longevity for a gaming laptop. Notebookcheck echoed this, stating the battery life is practical for mixed everyday and gaming use. The system’s only charging caveat is that the large battery requires the bundled power brick and cannot be charged via USB-C.

Overall, TweakTown concluded that in this specific configuration, the Nitro 16S AI excels for mainstream gaming and productivity. The combination of a premium build, vivid display, and strong performance makes it a viable option at one of the lower price points in its class.
