US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will leave Iran “very soon,” estimating that the US could be done with the war within two to three weeks. Trump is scheduled to deliver an address to the nation regarding Iran on Wednesday night.
In contrast to the timeline provided by the US president, Iran has indicated that it is willing to continue fighting for far longer.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated earlier that Tehran possesses the “necessary will” to end the ongoing war with the United States and Israel. However, Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran is seeking guarantees to ensure the conflict does not flare up again.
Addressing the closed Strait of Hormuz, Trump declared that the US will have “nothing to do with” the critical waterway. He told other nations, including key US allies, to “go get your own oil.”
Domestically, the conflict has impacted energy costs, with the average US gas price hitting $4 a gallon. This marks the highest price level seen since 2022.
Trump stated on Tuesday that gas prices will quickly go down once the US completes its operation in Iran. Despite this claim, CNN has reported that an end to the war will not translate to immediate savings at the pump.
Meanwhile, Tehran has issued threats against major US technology companies. According to the semi-official outlet Fars, 17 American companies have been threatened with attacks if more Iranian leaders are killed.
The targeted entities include prominent corporations such as Apple, Microsoft, Google, Meta, IBM, HP, Intel, and Tesla.
