Vivo X300 Ultra Review: Flagship Camera Power Meets Premium Pricing

The Vivo X300 Ultra is presented as an exceptionally powerful, camera-first flagship smartphone designed for serious mobile photographers and videographers. It boasts a pre-order price of €1,999.

The device features a large camera island, which contributes to its overall hefty size. Despite the large camera bump, the smartphone’s appeal is centred on its camera technology.

For display quality, the Vivo X300 Ultra is equipped with a 6.8-inch (or technically 6.82-inch) 1440p panel. The screen is characterized as being highly accomplished, reaching a peak brightness of 4500nits. It supports up to 144Hz refresh rates for gaming and can drop to 1Hz to conserve battery life. The display offers a good balance of vibrant, non-oversaturated colours in its default natural setting, while also providing a professional setting for a flatter, studio-clean look.

In terms of camera hardware, the device includes a 50MP, 1/1.28-inch ultrawide sensor. This sensor is noted for being significantly larger and having bigger pixels than the ultrawide sensor found in the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and even exceeding the size of the ultrawide camera sensor in the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. Crucially, this ultrawide camera is equipped with dual-pixel PDAF and OIS, features typically reserved for main or telephoto zoom lenses. The smartphone’s zoom capability is noted to be 3.7x, which is stated to be the equivalent of 85mm (or 2.4x zoom over the main camera). The ultrawide sensor offers the wider 24mm “1x” view.

Performance is driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which is paired with 12GB RAM and 1TB storage. Battery capacity is 6600mAh, though some European markets receive a slightly smaller 6400mAh battery. The charging capability is 100W using a compatible Vivo FlashCharge adapter, allowing the battery to reach 50% charge in just over 20 minutes and over 70% in half an hour.

Software and connectivity include a flexible Android skin with customization options for the Lock Screen, Home Screen, and icons. The device supports Vivoshare, allowing wireless file and image transfer to Apple devices, similar to AirDrop and Quick Share functionalities.

While the X300 Ultra’s camera system capabilities are stated to be beyond those of iPhone, Samsung, or Google Pixel, its high price point and brand recognition outside Asia are identified as potential drawbacks. Ultimately, the phone is recommended as a worthwhile investment for users who highly value professional video and photographic performance.
