The UGREEN FineTrack Mini 2 is a Bluetooth tracker designed for use within the Apple Find My network.
The device features dimensions of 36x36x10.7 mm and weighs 15g, placing it slightly larger than the AirTag’s diameter. Unlike its competitor, the UGREEN model is essentially square.
A key feature in its specifications is the use of a CR2450 battery, which UGREEN claims can last for between five and seven years. The tracker has an IP68 water resistance rating but notably does not support replacement of this internal battery.
Installation requires pairing the device using the Find My app on compatible iPhones or iPads; Macs can track the device but cannot set it up. The trackers are designed to work exclusively with Apple’s Find My Network, meaning they will not function cross-platform with Android devices.
Performance relies on the integrated Apple Find My network, which requires a nearby enrolled Apple device for tracking. While the UGREEN FineTrack Mini 2 has an integrated speaker that can reach 110dB, its detection capability is limited to locating the rough geographical area.
The UGREEN trackers do not feature precision finding, which is the ultra-wideband technology used by AirTags for direction and distance estimation during location attempts.
Regarding safety features, the device supports unwanted tracker detection, an alert designed for situations where a separated tracker continues moving with another user. However, both UGREEN and Apple noted that triggering this specific alert mechanism remains up to Apple’s system determination.
A potential difference in performance was observed when comparing the UGREEN model to a first-generation AirTag during head-to-head testing: the AirTag location was more closely determined over a moving distance.
When considering its use, the product is positioned as a lower-cost alternative to the official AirTag, particularly for users already within the Apple ecosystem. Consumers must weigh this potential savings against the lack of replaceable batteries and any need for high precision tracking.
