Getac V100 Fully Rugged Convertible Tablet PC

Getac V100 Fully Rugged Convertible Tablet PC

In a world filled with glossy covers and aluminium unibodies, we find that far too many electronics are incredible fragile and delicate. If you’re not too careful, you’ll break it and you lose out on quite a large sum of money. Not everyone is going to be interested in getting the toughest of the tough, but it doesn’t get much tougher than Getac. We demonstrated this when we visited the Getac headquarters in Taiwan last June and now we get to beat up one of their V100 in our own labs. The company is taking direct aim at the rugged segment currently occupied by a certain “ToughBook” line. But clearly, they aren’t the only game in town.

The Tao of the Cheap Chinese Tablet – MID M80003W Series Android 2.2 Tablet

Tablets are kind of a big deal these days, but they can also be more money than you want to spend on that kind of device. Thankfully, there are more affordable options out there for you to consider. One such possibility is the MID M8003W Android tablet, which was graciously provided to us for review by Geeks.com. It borrows much of its styling cues from a certain iProduct, but this tablet costs about a quarter of the price and it comes powered by Google Android. Sounds good, right?

When Steve Jobs walked on stage for the announcement of the iPad 2 in San Francisco on March 2, nobody realized that the new iPad 2 would have the impact it has had so far. Over a million have been sold. Disappointed would-be customers waited in long lines at stores across the country and around the world only to discover that there were no more iPad 2 tablets available at that location. It was one of the most remarkable introductions of a device in history.

Motorola Xoom Tablet

The Motorola Xoom is the first real competitor to Apple's wildly popular iPad. The Xoom has hardware specs better than the new iPad 2 and it is one of the first tablets to run the new Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) operating system, so we were excited to take a look. Our review unit was the 32 GB Verizon model of the Xoom.

Juniper Research predicts that tablet shipments will reach 81 million a year by 2015. The significant growth will be due to an increasing number of consumer electronics players and handset manufacturers entering the market. But not all tablet PCs are created equally and the current crop of devices have limited business appeal. As a result, the majority of workers will not be able to replace their laptops with a tablet and, since they typically already have smartphones, a tablet would be a third device for which most organisations will be reluctant to pay. Is Apple’s iPad 2 any different?

Acer Iconia 6120 Notebook

Acer Iconia 6120 Notebook

We've seen little innovation in laptop design in the last few years. Most companies seem to think that using a brushed aluminum finish or adding Intel's latest mobile CPU is all they need to do to freshen a product line. The Acer Iconia 6120, though, is a computer you can buy right now. Its dual screens offer new capabilities but come with some drawbacks as well. Benchmark Reviews takes a look at this unique laptop to see if it's worth your consideration.
