Following up on our Thermal Compound Roundup - May 2011 review, we are adding five more thermal compounds to our roundup, for a total of 25 different models from Antec, Arctic Cooling, Arctic Silver, Biostar, Cooler Master, Coolink, Deepcool, Evercool, Gelid, Noctua, Prolimatech, Scythe, Shi-Etsu, Spire, Rosewill, Thermalright, Thermaltake, Titan, Tuniq, Xigmatek, and Zalman. Obsidian 650D Mid-Tower Computer Case

Obsidian 650D Mid-Tower Computer Case

Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass and it is produced when the felsic lava from a volcano cools rapidly. So something so hot can be really cool looking, can we say that about the Obsidian 650D from Corsair? You should be able to make that judgement call after this review.

NVIDIA USB 3D Glasses

NVIDIA USB 3D Glasses

In a perfect world, 3G gaming would be the de-facto standard by now, but the reality is the cost of getting a 3D setup can be daunting. This is compounded by the fact that not everyone is sold on the long term viability of this round of 3D (and the headaches the glass free iteration can bring to many people). People have long memories and we all remember the failure which was the last "3D" fad and the headaches associated with them. With that being said, many people would be more willing to risk it, if the investment was not too steep. This is why everyone applauds when NVIDIA will be releasing a $99 USB wired 3D Vision glasses.

Iron Man 2 "Helmet" Flash Drives from Japan Totally Rock

Iron Man 2

While we always considered Tony Stark and his Iron Man the fascist wanker of the Super Hero comic world, there is no denying the movie version of him is a lot less of a wanker. In fact, millions of people consider him a true good guy based on the films and actually want Iron Man themed USB memorabilia. To us, the official Iron Man flash drives always seemed like bad Mimobot clones. However, a true contended has arisen in the form of a Japanese version of Iron Man 2 Helmet Flash Drive.

OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD

OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD

Performance on the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD was excellent and on the compressible data benchmarks, the drive exceeded the rated specifications of 550MB/s read and 500MB/s writes. Incompressible data slowed things down noticeably on the sequential writes and that is where the Vertex 3 120GB lost ground to the larger Vertex 3 240 GB drive as it has half the number of die channels. Still, the random performance was exemplary and that's where Windows spends much of its time in terms of data access...

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 560 OC

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 560 OC

GIGABYTE's GeForce GTX 560 OC measures in at 221 millimetres in length (9.72 inches) including the fan shroud that extends past the PCB (PCB length 210mm). It's worth noting that this is the smallest of the three GTX 560 cards we've tested, which may be of interest to HTPC users. It requires a minimum of 500W or greater system power supply to keep it well fed. Cooling is provided by dual 100mm fans and a heatsink with four copper heat pipes and an aluminium fin array that allows for efficient heat transfer and dissipation from the NVIDIA GF114 core.

Corsair Obsidian 650D Computer Case

Corsair Obsidian 650D Computer Case

The Obsidian 650D is Corsairs second attempt at a mid-tower case and the third case in the Obsidian line that started with the 800D almost two years ago. The 650D was created in response to the two biggest complaints about the 800D, which were price and size. Priced at $199 and now in a mid-tower design both issues have been addressed. At the same time the 650D has retained many of the same great features and aesthetics that made the Obsidian 800D so popular. While evaluating the Obsidian 650D Benchmark Reviews will see if it is worth of the Obsidian moniker it has inherited or if many of the features its older brother had have been lost in the transition to a smaller size.

Corsair SP2200 2.1 Speaker System

Corsair SP2200 2.1 Speaker System

Okay, Corsair, you’ve gone too far. First you dabbled in Power Supplies and then Computer Cases, but this time you’ve crossed the line and provided us with reasonably priced Speakers!? Whoever would have thought that the prominent solid state memory producer would ever venture into the speaker market? Surely, I didn’t. Today we take a look at the Corsair SP2200 2.1 Speaker System; a 46Watt 2 Satellite, 1 Sub, Ball-O-Fire. Corsairs’ website proclaims that these speakers are, “Designed for gamers and media enthusiasts who want a compact 2.1 speaker system that doesn’t take a lot of space. It delivers big gaming sound in a small package.” Today at ThinkComputers we find out how true that statement actually is.

Nesteq ASM Xzero 600W Semi-Fanless Power Supply Unit

Nesteq ASM Xzero 600W Semi-Fanless Power Supply Unit

Compared with companies such as Corsair and Enermax, NesteQ is a relatively small company when it comes to PSUs. When I told a few of my friends about this PSU, the majority of them had never even heard on NesteQ. However, for those of us who have been following PC hardware for a while will know that NesteQ is famed for their quiet PSUs and other products aimed at reducing noise from your system. This new PSU is no exception.

Modern PSUs are generally made from the same mould; a large fan on the bottom, a grill at the back, a power switch and the necessary internals. Although one manufacturer will sometimes bring new aesthetic designs to the table the general functionality of a PSU remains fairly standard. However, NesteQ have set these guidelines aside and have crafted a truly unique product.

In this review we will be taking a look at Nesteq's Xzero PSU and what it can offer in comparison to the vast majority of power supplies on the market. And most importantly, are these new features genuinely useful or just gimmicks to raise the price? We shall be finding out about that and more later on.

Corsair TX850 V2 Power Supply

Corsair TX850 V2 Power Supply

Let's take a look at the revamped Corsair TX850 power supply, dubbed TX850 V2, now featuring a DC-DC design and 80 Plus Bronze certification. It is important to understand that while the old TX850 was manufactured by CWT, being a relabeled 850VH unit from this manufacturer, the new Corsair TX850 V2 is manufactured by Seasonic, being internally identical to the XFX PRO 850 W unit.

Sentey Black Box Series: BX1-4284 V2.3

Sentey Black Box Series: BX1-4284 V2.3

Sentey has sent us a new case from their Black Box Series lineup, the BX1-4284 V2.3. It is version 2.3 because it is one of three cases in this specific line. Version 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3 are basically all the same, but the side panels and the LED colored fans are different on each case. Ours comes with a full side acrylic window with a 120mm fan and an optional 80mm fan cut into the window. The case is painted in a super high gloss black so it has a nice mirror finish to it.

The BX1 has five 3.5″ drive bays as well as four more 5.25″ drive bays jammed into this mid tower to help give you plenty of upgrade options. The front I/O area has a fan control knob which will allow you to control up to seven fans. Now, let’s see just how well this Sentey mid tower does when we examine it on our test bench.
