Kingston 32GB DTU3G2 USB 3.0 Flash Drive

Kingston 32GB DTU3G2 USB 3.0 Flash Drive

A couple weeks ago, Kingston released their DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 Generation 2 flash drives. These flash drives use the USB 3.0 standard, and are reported to be Kingston's fastest flash drives, with stunning speeds of 100MB/s read and 70MB/s write when plugged into a USB 3 port. The drives are available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB versions.

We'll put Kingston's claims to the test, and see if the drives are really worth what they claim. Shown above is the 16GB version; today, we're testing the 32GB version, which retails for $80 USD on Newegg.

Cooler Master Silencio 550 Chassis

Cooler Master Silencio 550 Chassis

It seems that quite a few cases have been released recently and while this might seem a bit repetitive it does at least allow us to compare the cases quite well.

Today's case is the Cooler Master Silencio 550 Chassis which is trying to be slightly different to your standard case but at a price that will not break the bank. The name itself might give it away slightly but if it's not obvious Cooler Master do claim 'near silent' operation when using this case. That seems like quite a tall order when most users will be using fairly hefty CPU Coolers and a decent powered PSU. All we can say from the start is that they certainly haven't compromised the looks of this case.

Cooler Master are a huge player in the computing world and are probably best known for their cases so we are expecting very good things. They are also certainly willing to listen to the public and to give the support that is needed to their customers, which in turn is helping them to create even better products and we certainly hope this Silencio Chassis is one of those.

HIS Solar LED Flashlight

HIS Solar LED Flashlight

Hightech Information System, also known as HIS, is a well-known enthusiast graphics card manufacturer. Occasionally a company deeply rooted in computer hardware products will step away from their tried-and-true product lines and reinvent themselves. In this particular case, HIS has branded their own rechargeable solar LED flashlight. In principal, the solar LED flashlight is everything a consumer could ask for: practical purpose, renewable energy source, and durable construction. In this article, Benchmark Reviews explains how valuable a solar flashlight can be in the age of an economic collapse and green revolution.

Xigmatek AEGIR cooler

Xigmatek AEGIR cooler

The Xigmatek AEGIR is a full-featured mainstream cooler and we are pleased to see it raising the high-end of the mainstream bar. The AEGIR  performed well throughout all of our tests, and could even handle the fully loaded i7 930 @ 4.0GHz while keeping it below 90c degrees. This is quite impressive performance, especially for a cooler in this price class, even without a 2nd fan attached. Analyzing the testing results reveals that the AEGIR still has more potential.

Gigabyte Radeon HD 6870 OC Graphics Card

Gigabyte Radeon HD 6870 OC Graphics Card

We've taken a look at plenty of cards from the 6800 series range of Radeon's from AMD and whilst they have been from different manufacturers, we never really get excited unless they claim to offer something a bit extra. Otherwise we are just looking at another reference card with different branding on it.

Sometimes we may see a card that has a slight overclock when compared to a stock reference card. Other times we see a card that has a slightly tweaked cooler to give better efficiency with keeping temperatures down. On the very rare occasion we may see both together, and today our prayers were answered, as we are taking a look at a card that not only offers a pre-overclocked core and memory, but also gives a unique cooling design to assist in the extra heat that may be generated.

As with all of our graphics card reviews, even though the card is overclocked that doesn't mean we will leave it at that. We will see how the card compares to others on the market, but will then find out if there is any more juice to be squeezed out of it as well as taking a look if the cooling is just a fancy bit of bling or whether it really does do the card any justice.

A Fresh Look At The AMD Radeon Gallium3D Performance

A Fresh Look At The AMD Radeon Gallium3D Performance

As noted earlier in the week, the open-source AMD Radeon "R600g" driver that supports 3D acceleration on Radeon HD 2000 series graphics cards through the latest Radeon HD 6000 and Fusion graphics processors, is becoming quite fit. The driver is nearing a point of stability, is mature enough for most desktop users, and it is beginning to receive some performance optimizations and other improvements. Thanks to this recent work, plus the ongoing development of the Linux 3.0 kernel, here is a fresh set of AMD Gallium3D Linux driver benchmarks.
